State 2012

The State Competition was held near Boise.  This school had burned down and was rebuilt with College quality facilities.  It was the perfect place for a State Competition.  So the kids that qualified all walked around the track waving like the Olympics.  In the top picture you can barely see Anna's face through the two kids with the white sweatshirts.  The bottom one shows Kate right behind the boy with the white sweatshirt.

So after the March or walk  in front of the crowd, the games began.
Kaylee was sweet and came to support Katelyn.
We had a conflict, so we barely missed her discus, but watched the others compete.
We did get to see her shotput.

She actually scored better than she was ranked.
Anna ran a great race as well.

Anna ended up where she was ranked, which means that she ran hard again and we were proud of her.
I have to tell you that it was incredible to watch the athletes at State.  Every race was so fun to watch.  Every person there was an amazing athlete.  I'm glad we got to go and witness this.  I can imagine how watching the Olympics would be live, even more amazing.

The best part is earning a state sweatshirt that the girls wore proudly.

Stitches

So, Jeff and I were on a date with Brandi and Bryan when  we got a call that Olivia was in Urgent care.  Strangely we have never gotten a call like that.  It ended up being stitches, but even that had never happened.
So Olivia was jumping on the mini tramp and slipped and hit her head on the corner of the coffee table
.  When we got that table at a yard sale in Provo before we even had kids, I expected this to happen, but it never did until the last kid.  So it wasn't too bad and she did fine.

School Dances for Katelyn

The art of finding dresses for dances is quite a skill.  Especially for someone like me and Kate who don't really like to shop for clothes.  You want a modest dress that is in your price range that your daughter will like.  This formula seems simple, but it is not.  It is a very stressful situation.  We lucked out on this dress, took out some tucks and added some tulle.  Katelyn looked great, but for some reason was not into taking a lot of pictures, so this is all we have.  Kaylee's mom did a few alterations as well, but the girls look great. Katelyn went with Dylan to The Sweetheart Dance.

The next dance was the prom.  This dress had some major alterations as well.  We got the dress one day before the prom.  I was hoping for a bigger sleeve, but besides that she looked amazing.

He actually made a movie to ask her to the Prom.  That is his specialty.  She answered with an Acadamy Award.

She had a great time at both dances.
