The other day I was talking to some friends about how when you're a mom and you get hurt, you can't really show it, you can't start bawling and crying on the floor. The most you can do is say "Ow,"loudly. Then you just feel the pain. Sometimes it's just not worth it and sometimes you don't want to worry your kids.
One time Kate and I were floating down a river on the same tube. She was about 5. Some how we slipped and while I was trying to pull us to the side, my shins were getting hit left and right with rocks. I lost my shoes in this float and Katelyn was really upset about the shoes. While we were walking back to our campsite I just acted like it was nothing as my shins were pulsing and slowly showing the bumps.
Well today, I had a similar experience with Olivia, only I was surprised by her reaction. I was blow drying my hair, and she was standing on the stool behind me. She was sort of wiggling around when the stool tipped with her on it and landed on my foot. Stools shouldn't really hit that hard, so it must have had her weight as well. As she is falling to the floor I said,"Ow!!" loudly because this one really did hurt. She immediately, through her tears said Sorry, sorry mama." I don't think she actually got hurt with the fall, because then she wasn't crying and saying sorry. Then a few minutes later she said, " I wished I had put my hands out like this, (in the carrying/catching position) so you wouldn't get hurt." Then she thinks a band-aid will help and puts two, crisscross on my foot. I think this is the girl who should take care of me in my old age. My foot is fine, but will end up with a good bruise. I'm not worried at all because I have a great nurse to take care of me.

That's so cute. What a sweet girl.
I save all my crying for when I am really frusterated with the kids - it gives my tears more creedence. And stools DO land that hard. Liv Liv is a nice girl. I like it that she wanted to give you a bandaid - because bandaids take pain away!!!
