Back To School Night 2020

The back to school night was so fun to plan this year.  The theme was Gilligan's Island.  It started off simple, then when Jeff started building the set, it evolved as it always does. Jeff took the kids on a boat tour, a three-hour tour if you know what I mean.  He made a sort of boat with the couches and had the calm sea on the TV.  It turned into a storm with their seats being jostled and water spraying to boot.  Eventually, they crashed!  They landed on a deserted island, so they thought.  Not sure what happened to the captain, he just disappeared, (to change costumes).

Maryann was so excited to see them because she figured that the girls had come to rescue her and her friends. Come to find out, they were stranded too. She quickly tried to make them feel at home after their ordeal.  She gave them leighs, then Gilligan showed up and Maryann got them some island snacks.
Clam dip and home-dried jungle potato wedges with pineapple slush

They ate out in the open by the palm trees right next to the hut, that Gilligan had created.

Next comes Ginger.  She sings an incredible rendition of "What do you do When you are Shipwrecked?"  They adored her performance!  She had to keep reminding them that she was a movie star and kept asking if they had they seen any of her pictures.  Then the professor showed up with a  scientific explanation about what they would be eating.  Ginger went to get their entree.
He's a smart guy and they were super interested.  Then Ginger brought some shishkabobs with chicken, that lived on the island, mushrooms that are grown on the island, and of course pineapple.
Last but not least the Howells showed up.  First Lovey came and spoke to them about how they don't do anything on the island because they are millionaires and can pay people to serve them.  She didn't want to bring the dessert, "But Dawling, no one else was around to bring the Coconut Cream Pie."

Thurston also taught them how to use the napkin and act sophisticated and how the Howells were a perfect example of how to act because after all, we are rich!!!
What a fun night! Of course, we were super embarrassing like normal, but our kids are good sports and really love our back to school dinner no matter what!
