The End of Volleyball Season

So here is Katelyn's team. She traveled with them last year and had a great season. They are Freshman and play in a 16's pool. Their coach Kelly has been awesome and Brandi as well. Katelyn has really improved just from school play last fall. So, I thought I better include a few of her specialties.

When she first started she was great at passing. She used to joke that she'd get the award as the "Best Bumper."

In the fall she played middle and really dominated on the net. I think blocking is her favorite thing to do. Look at her opponent. She's really scared. I would be too.

Then on this club team she plays a 6-2 which means that they have 2 setters. So when she's on the back row she sets for the front. Then when she's on the front row, she gets to play middle and block and hit.
She also has a great serve that she is in the process of changing.
I can't believe that I got this spike. She is #12, and it was awesome. So they played well on their last tournament and now she gets to relax, and oh, is she ready. Now if we can finish Driver's Ed. Only five more days.

Mother's Day!

What can I say! I wish I didn't care about Mother's Day, but when it rolls around I do love to here, "Mother I love you, Mother I''ll do the dishes without complaining to you. I won't annoy you whine, fight or cry, I'll only say sweet loving words meant for you. Mother I love you, I love you, I do"  It is true that my biggest request on Mother's Day is great behavior, but this year I really did get spoiled. Thanks my sweet children and adorable husband.
9:00am delectable omelet, hashbrown, fruitcup with grape juice and 7up. "Hey it's Mother's day."

9:15am Kate gives me a bag of my favorite treats, white cheddar popcorn, snickers, carnival frosted cookies, brownie mix, sugar free gum, and sugar free singles lemonade. Yum!
9:20am luxurious bubble bath in a clean bathroom.
9:50am Natalie's plant from school and flower coupons that include making my bed.
10:30am was offered and tempted to not get anyone ready, but after Kyle's wadded and wrinkled shirt and the little girls hair needing help, I just had to.
11:00-2:00pm great meetings and Huckleberry Cordials for the women. Also called to be the Activities Chairman.
2:10pm Return home without Jeff, but receive more notes, cards and chalk messages from Kristen, Livvy, and Natalie.  Livvy says, "Guess what Brother Griffith and Sister Griffith teached me, "I Love you," as she does it in sign language very enthusiastically.

3:00pm Livvy's gift to me is to take a nap with me so she will be cheerful. and she woke up happy as a clam.

4:00pm Kristen couldn't wait another minute and gave me her flower/plant (Columbine) that she got with her own money. Also the second card that she liked better, beautiful book mark from achievement days. (Thanks awesome leaders).

4:30pm a letter from Katelyn that she wrote in seminary about me.

5:00pm Mouth watering dinner made by Jeff for me and his mother, Rhea Jones. His dad and the kids were invited too. We ate Barbequed lemon pepper chicken, marinated all night, Noodles Alfredo, Cottage Cheese/jello salad, Geraldine's Rolls with real butter.

6:00pm Gifts: Olivia-Two giant Symphony Bars, Kyle- a rose to plant in the garden, Anna-the movie Blindside and a beautiful card/letter, Jeff- Whitman Samplers, a sweet card and a Full Day off within the next two weeks.

7:00pm Natalie fulfilling another coupon to do the dishes and she also helped me earlier. Tomorrow we go to ice cream.

It was way more than I dreamed of and I had to write it just because I wanted my family to know how much I appreciated every little thing they did. I know that many used their own money and the big kids helped a ton. I also appreciate the self control it takes to try to be good all day.

Thanks and I adore you!!

Setting the Story book Straight

This year for our Drama Club Musical, Heather Rhinehart wrote Setting the Story Book Straight which is the real story of Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Big Brad Wolf, Three Little Pigs andthe Pig's Mom, Grandma, the Three Bears  and how they all cross paths in the woods. Nancy Jenkins and I wrote the music and we had a blast. Mom's volunteer all the time for Drama Club. Last year my friend Tish who also does the scenery, wrote a grant to get cordless microphone headsets for our sound system. We were awarded the money and bought them. We had to figure out all the tricks and had some student techs to help. Annalisa was one of them. I also worked with Tara, Paula and Suzanne. We do Drama Club once a week for one hour. Then on the day we perform the kids get out of class all day. This year we performed at Tiebreaker as well as at our school. Since we double cast some parts we have two performances in the day at the school and two at night. Then we have a cast party a week later where we all bring treats and pig out. This year my friend Kami helped with choreography and Kim took these awesome pics. Kyle played, Big Brad Wolf.  He even sang a hip hop song called, "Misunderstood." It may be the end of his Drama Career, but he sure did a good job. He told me that his main reasons for being in Drama Club was the Cast Party, Getting out of school and that I'd probably make him. The kids did great and we had so much fun.
